We wrote stories about what we would love rain to be made out of. We dressed up in Miss Jackson's gumboots, a rain jacket and held an umbrella. Come in and read our amazing writing.

Religious Education (RE)

In RE we are learning about belonging to the church, our school and our whanau (family).  We will also be learning about the different parts of the church.

Our Writing..
Come in and look at our Polar Bear Writing and art.

We thought about what we would love rain to be made out of. We got to dress up in Mrs Jackson's gumboots, a rain jacket and held an umbrella!

We were given a picture of a snowman, we had 5 minutes to add the missing parts. We then wrote 'Lost' Posters- we wrote 4 sentences describing our snowmen. Come in and see if you can match up which snow man goes with which writing.

Writing time in Kawakawa

We have been doing some amazing writing the last 2 weeks back at school. Come in to our classroom and check out our snow man writing, polar bear writing and our writing about what we wish rain was made out of! Today we thought about what we would love to be when we grow up!

Whanau groups

On Friday morning from 9-9:30 the school were divided up into different groups called 'Whanau-(family) groups'. The groups were made up of children from all the different classes in the school. The Year 7's lead the groups with a prayer and a song to begin with then in pairs the student's discussed what they had been learning about for RE over the last few weeks- focusing on 'God' The Year 7's and 8's were fantastic role models to the younger students and managed the group so well. This will take place 2 or 3 times a term. Kawakawa students came back very excited to have gone to a different classroom and meet new friends and share their learning in a different way. They were amazed to hear everyone had been learning what they had been learning about!

Gospel presentation

On Thursday Kawakawa and Kauri presented the Creation story at our School Mass as we had been learning all about God last term. Mrs Brookes and I were so proud of the children and how confident they were. The readers spoke with loud voices and used lots of expression! Well done to everyone! Thank-you to the parents who supported with practicing words at home and came and watched. We will be on Gospel again in week 9.

First day back Term 3

The class were very excited to be back today and to see our new classroom layout! I have rearranged the classroom over the holidays to make more room and to best suit the students learning styles. The children have the choice where they want to sit in the room- they don’t have to sit at table and chairs. They choose their spot to sit in- on a cushion, or a bean bag, on a stool, at the jelly bean table, at a table, or in the Keva. The children are trusted with their choices and therefore are engaged. They are learning how to collaborate and communicate together. The students can sit where  they feel comfortable!
